St Nicholas Church

St Nicholas Church Flimby is an ancient and beautiful building; there has been a place of worship on this site for hundreds of years. A place where families have worshipped and prayed together, where many special family services have taken place: weddings, baptisms, confirmations and funerals, it has been at the heart of the village and community. It is a place I know holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Flimby, and we at St Nicholas are committed to keeping your church in the community.

It was good to see so many of you join us for our Christmas services and we would love to see you at any of our services. Last year as part of our mission and outreach to the community, many of you will remember that we hosted a week's Christian art exhibition 'Hungry & Thirsty' in church
with the artist working with the children in the school. This year we are planning to bring the Covenant players, a Christian drama group who will take drama workshops into the school.

Sadly though St Nicholas church has not had a good start to the Yew Year and is struggling financially, the building needing various repairs and the old boiler which has faithfully run our heating system over the years has failed and needs replacing this is going to cost in the region of £1,500. So we are launching an appeal to raise this money for the heating system and maintenance of the church, and would be grateful for your donations towards this. If you feel that you are able and would like to donate to your church. Donations can be given to or sent to. Mr G. Irving, 33 Ryehill Rd, Flimby. If you would like to donate to the church and are a tax payer please ask for a gift aid form, this enables the church to claim the tax back on your donation from the Government.

If you would like to donate to the ongoing upkeep and running of your village church; St Nicholas's, and help us to keep a Christian presence in this community, please ask about our regular giving envelopes.

Also let us know what you wou1d like to see the church doing for you and the community of Flimby or if you feel you have a gift, a talent or a trade and would like to do something for the church please let us know.

We would love to see you all in your church of St Nicholas. Please come and join us in our Sunday morning worship 11:15 every week, the first Sunday in the month is our Family Service also at 11:15, everyone is most welcome.
