Well the 29th of May was the day of our charity show to raise money for the Workington RNLI. The weather in themorning was atrocious and saw my team of helpers soaked till the skin .When Peter, one our lads, said the sun will be out by ten. To which I replied its got 12 minutes. Well it was late but by 10.30am the field was drenched no longer in rain but
brilliant sunshine. Well the first on the agenda was the racing with the over 23 inch winner coming from Hartlepool yet again. However the unders were totally dominated by my own kennel of whippets. The champion was my son Shaun with Bracken with Gill Langcake and Twigg also bred by myself. Next we held the child handlers class which was ably judged by our own deputy mayor Carol TindalL. The winner was won by Tyler Eccles of Frizinton with her lurcher dog. Tyler was awarded the John Harris memorial trophy which was presented by John's widow Marjorie. The show awards were on the day:
Champion terrier was George Norman with his Lakeland dog Tod from Flimby, The champion whippet was Mark Winskil with Roxy and reserve Shaun Wilson with Bracken. Top awards in the lurchers went to Andrew Garret with Maya from Gateshead with reserve George Wilson and Zula. On the day we had a full race card of 32 dogs, 40 child handlers ,110 lurchers 55 terriers and 28 whippets. and we made £500 for the lifeboat which i would like thank everyone who helped out especially all our members and families who gave their time to ensure another successful day.
