Flimby Youth Club

The youth club continues to go from strength to strength. By the time you read this we should have been on what we hope will be the first of many Annual Outings. This year the young people have decided that they would like to go to Flamingoland and I shall tell you all about it in the next edition. We were lucky enough to obtain funding for the event this year which enabled each young person to be able to attend for a minimum cost of £5.00 only. We are looking for ideas on how to raise funds for next year and, as usual, your thought would be very much appreciated.

We have now managed to register 2 football teams in the Cumberland League, 1 for under 18?s and 1 for under 15?s. When we receive the fixture list we shall let everyone know. Your support would be very much appreciated for these young lads who have worked hard to get the teams together.

We have also managed to get together 2 teams consisting of 8 young people each to enter the 3 Lakes Challenge This consists of  sailing on 1 lake, canoeing on another and kayaking on a 3rd all in 1 day. I hope you will join us in wishing our teams good luck.

Some of the club members have been working hard on the Passport Scheme and this has culminated in a 4 day residential adventure for them. Congratulations to all those who have achieved this and I hope you have a fantastic time.

The leaders are also continually doing training and we are now able to offer the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and  The Young Achievers Scheme alongside the Passport Scheme. If you are a young person and want to know more about these schemes then either pop along on a Friday night between 6 and 9 or contact Carol Tindall or myself.

We continue to look for more things for the young ladies of the village to participate in, so come on girls, get your thinking caps on. I have said it before and I will say it again, we will try to assist you in doing anything you want, within reason.

If anybody has any ideas for fund raising, would like to support us as a volunteer or just wants to come along and support our teams please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

So why not DROP IN and see what you think?  It's an opportunity to make new friends in a friendly, warm and secure local venue.

Flimby Partnership are looking for ideas from people in this age group as to what amenities they would like to see/have in the village in general. If you want to have your say this is your chance. Come to the DROP-IN and let us know. It's your chance to have a say and make a difference to your village!
